Basics
When someone creates a region, it will end up in a random country, and
will be named New region, New leader, until they first log in. Time
begins progressing as soon as a region is created, which happens right
after a person registers for an account. This means that if you do not
log in after you register, your region will sit there and be inactive
during that time. If you are inactive for prolonged periods of time,
then your region will fall behind those that are more active.
When you first log in your region, you'll be asked to name the region
and the leader. Try to pick a name that isn't a popular character from
a book or video game(Sephiroth, Gandalf), as those names are overused,
and there are likely to be some other players who did the same thing.
Instead, if you can't come up with a name of your own, pick less
popular names, like Mr. T of The A-Team, or Q-bert. You can also go
for amusing names like Monica Lewinsky of Under the Desk. Don't be
one of the 20 people who choose stuff like Hitler of Nazi Land.
Remember that the name you choose now will remain your name for the
rest of the round -- you cannot change it.
After you pick a name, you
will find yourself in a random country. Countries work like this: there is
country:continent, each country is at a specific country on a specific
continent. Countries and continents are numbered 0-9. So country 1 of
continent 7 would be country 1:7, and country 4 of continent 0 would
be country 4:0. Once you are in a country, the other
players in it will be your neighbors. You should try to make friends
with them, because you can send aid to each other in times of need,
and if someone attacks one of you, the others can send soldiers to
help protect you, money to buy stuff with, food to help feed citizens
with, and iron too. This can be a real lifesaver when you're under
fire. So it's a good idea to try and get the players in your country
to work together, and help each other, and learn how to play.
When you
first enter your region, you will be under protection. This means
that you cannot affect other regions, and they cannot affect yours.
This means you can't send aid, attack, hack or spy on them if you or
they are under protection. The only way to interact with them until
protection ends is by sending them messages, or posting messages
either in the country forum(which can only be read by people in your
country), or on the strategy forum, which anybody can read. Protection
lasts 150 game days. Each game day is half an hour in real life.
That means that 48 game days pass in 1 real day.
The first page you see when you
log in is the main menu. From the main menu, you can view a table of your statistics,
such as your land size, resources, employment and
efficiency,
as well as your networth, which is a measure of how much wealth you have.
Your networth goes up as you get more money, and build buildings and train troops.
On the right side of the table, you can see a tally of all the
military-oriented units. From the main menu, you can also see if you have
any new messages, as well as view your message archive, and you can
see if anyone has been attacking your region, or sending you any aid
in your region news, which is located just under your the table that
holds your statistics. At the top of the table, there is a link to
your region report.
The region report shows you how much food you are producing, both per game day, and per real day,
and how much you currently need, plus the change in your total food per game day.
From your region report, you can also see the production of your other resources, and your
military power.
At the top of every game window, there are two bars. The upper one shows
your resources and networth(nw), the lower one shows the name and
location of your region, the leader's name, and the current game date.
The other menus are:
Message menu: From here, you can send a message to any
region, and only that region will see it. Just select the country:continent,
then press change to go to that country's list of regions, select the
name of the region you want to send a message to, type in the message,
then send it.
Exploration menu: From here, you can spend 4 soldiers and
5000$ for each acre you want to purchase. Exploration takes 20 game days.
Politics menu: From here, you can vote for one of the regions in
your country as president, or access the president's options if you
are the president. Currently, the only president option is the
ability to change the country name.
Growth menu: From here, you can order the construction of
buildings.
You may also go to the raze link, and enter the number of a specific
building type to be razed, and that amount will be destroyed. You
will not recover any resources from them.
Trade menu: From here, you can purchase or sell food, iron,
tech, or soldiers from the world market(see the section
on Trade).

on Sciences).
Top 50: Takes you to the Top 50 page. From there, you can see
the top 50 most powerful, largest, most famous, and most infamous
regions. Power is ranked by networth, size by acres, and famous and
infamous are ranked by fame.

on Military and Combat).
Strategy Forum: This is actually a general-use forum for any topic. Ask questions or make comments here.
Anyone can read these messages. You can post either with your region and leader name with to avoid impersonation, or you can post
anonymously by selecting the anonymous option, and typing a name into the 'annonymous' field.
Spying menu: From here, you can execute various
spying attacks.
World News: Here, you can see a list of all recent military attacks made, who made them, who they were
against, and what the outcome was.
Send Aid menu: From here, you can send resources or soldiers to anyone in your country who is in need.
The Guide: In the guide, you can read up on the various aspects of the game.
You are here right now, reading it. Spooky how I knew that, huh?
Countries menu: From here, you can enter in the coordinates of any country:continent, and see
a list of all the regions in that country, plus the sizes and networths of those regions.
Edit Account menu: From here, you can change your password or delete your account.
This should give you a basic idea of the various facets of the game. For a more
detailed understanding, read the rest of the guide, it contains all the necessary
documentation on the game.
